Evaluation of potato genotypes against early blight (Alternaria alternata) of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.)

چکیده
Early blight (Alternaria alternata) of the potato is most destructive disease in tropical and sub-tropical countries. Natural epidemics early are strongly influenced by environmental conditions, even though severe appears every year northern India. Twenty-eight genotypes were used this study to differentiate between resistance susceptible selected represent a range reactions when screened field conditions. Out twenty-eight genotypes/varieties, six viz., CP-3021, 3153, Atlantic, Chip-3, Jx-161 MS/78-62 showed resistant reaction. While thirteen moderately resistant. However, while three highly susceptible. Resistant varieties can be simplest, effective economical method plant control. The use cannot only ensure protection against diseases but also save time, energy money spent on other control methods.

The experiment was conducted during the period from January to December, 2008 at the Laboratory of Biotechnology, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Gazipur, Bangladesh. A two step procedure was followed for direct plant regeneration of potato. Murashige and Skoog (MS) basal medium supplemented with 0.5 mg l -1 IBA and 30 g sugar was used for in vitro potato plants development via noda...

Mechanism of microtuberization in three elite cultivars kufri badhsha (KB), kufri chandramukhi (KCM) and kufri jawahar (KJ) of potato was studied. Sprouts of all the three cultivars were used to obtain in vitro shoot cultures. MS medium supplemented with chlorocholine chloride was found to be most suitable for all the cultivars. Maximum tuberization was obtained under incubation conditions of c...

Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) cascades have crucial roles in the regulation of plant development and in plant responses to stress. Plant recognition of pathogen-associated molecular patterns or pathogen-derived effector proteins has been shown to trigger activation of several MAPKs. This then controls defence responses, including synthesis and/or signalling of defence hormones and act...

Phosphite (Phi) has been recommended to enhance plant resistance against Phytophthora spp. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of calcium phosphite (PhiCa) and potassium phosphite (PhiK) under field conditions, taking into account physiological parameters, performance and protection against late blight in the foliage of two potato cultivars, and comparing these results to contr...
